In Hoboken, the change in parking rules on Sinatra Drive, which snakes along the waterfront, has snared more than a few victims, as numerous out-of-town cars were observed this Saturday with boots on them. Apparently, some folks came Friday night, were used to parking alongside the mountain on Sinatra Drive, and didn’t realize it had been changed in the last few weeks from permit parking to resident parking only.
At the same time, the parking meters are now up on the east side, along the waterfront, 25 cents per quarter of an hour. The signs say they must be filled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. A council compromise last month changed it so that residents don’t have to feed the meters after 6 p.m. However, the signs still have to be changed to reflect that. Parking Director John Corea told the Reporter inTHIS story that residents can still park free after 6 p.m. and shouldn’t be ticketed.
The poles for the meters were added two weeks ago, and the meters themselves were added last week.
