HoLa program fails at Hoboken Board of Ed meeting

By a thin margin, a controversial program to teach Spanish and English together to the early grades in the Hoboken public schools failed at a board meeting Tuesday night. Many parents felt the program was a luxury in an economic recession, and a possible misallocation of resources when test scores remain low in upper grades, as noted in one of our letters to the editor from a resident last week.
In addition, the board voted last night to let an empty seat remain open.
