CAURSO, JOHN. Mass for John Caruso, 88, of Toms River, formerly of Secaucus and Jersey City, was held Sept. 10 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Bayonne. He died Sept. 7 at Community Hospital, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Secaucus for 25 years before moving to Toms River 15 years ago. Caruso was a bus driver for Red and Tan Lines for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was also a boxer who fought professional and amateur bouts in New York and New Jersey. Known as the “Greenville Welterweight,” he won the Golden Gloves in 1939. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Richard, and his wife Eve, and John and Michael; two daughters, Deborah Flood, and her husband Stephen, and Lisa Agnes, and her husband Larry; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
