Dear Editor:
My husband, Sal Cemelli, was a lifetime resident and 3rd ward Councilman of Hoboken for many years. He passed away on May 17, 2008. His humble yet fulfilled life was appropriately celebrated thanks to many people.
This letter is to thank those people who were instrumental in giving my husband a dignified funeral. First, I would like to thank Tom Kennedy, Roy Huelbig and the members of American Legion Post #17. My husband was a proud WWII veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars; his fellow legion members were there for him until the end. My family and I would like to thank them for both the service at Failla’s and at the church. I would also like to thank Michael Vallardes from Hoboken High School for his touching rendition of Taps outside the church.
Next, I offer a heartfelt thank you to John McKnight and his terrific staff for making a difficult time bearable. John’s compassion, care, patience and kindness will forever be appreciated and never forgotten.
Last, thank you to everyone who came to say good-bye, sent cards, donations and love and support to our family.
Thank you all,
Jo Cemelli & Family
