How they’re saving money Residents talk about changing summer plans

With summer here and gas prices and food costs still rising to new highs, Hudson County residents have been forced to either change their current spending habits or at least become more aware of conservation.

Some residents said that fuel costs, which are now over $4, lessened how far they are willing to drive for vacation.

One Secaucus resident, Ed Kelly, said that his family is actually driving down to Virginia and taking a train to Florida because of the cost of gasoline. They have driven to Florida for the last three years, but will now change their plans to save money.

But some said that conserving energy and costs have always been at the forefront of their minds, and therefore they weren’t taking as hard of a hit from the economy.
