“AN ARTIST IN BLOOM!!!”…Union City Artist Elizabeth “Lee” Lisevitz is a creator in art form whose time has not yet come full-force! Born in Philadelphia to loving parents Ralph, a veterinarian, and Elizabeth Craft, Ms. Lee Lisevitz tells us that she is a proud daughter! Her parents who now live in Stroutsburg, Pa. are now both retired, and she also has a brother Christopher who lives in Pennsylvania and a sister who lives in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., whose name is Karen!Lee also tells us that she has been married for the past 16 years to Sheldon Lisevitz, M.D., Ph.D., who is now retired from practice! Ms. Lisevitz tells us that she has a cross-country background regarding her career and education. She has studied Graphic Design at Farmingdale State College/SUNY and then went on to the West Coast where she achieved an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from the City College of San Diego in 1992 and then went on to study art and psychology at San Diego State University.
While in California, Ms. Lisevitz became an art director for various daily/weekly newspapers and oversaw advertising and special editions, as well as make up of the advertising and page layout! Following this, Lee then came back to the East Coast and lived in Long Island for two years and then moved to Union City in 2000! As for her artistry, Lee tells us that she has had an “instinct” and inclination to be an artist since her “pre-teens” in life! She first started out with watercolors and has now progressed on to oil paintings! During her artistic journey she proudly states that she has “created” a new type of art, which is called “Glass-Canvas Art-Works!” This newly created form of art is “illuminated” by lamp-light and/or day-light in the background! She has also experimented with “candle-light” which brings out a “flickering illumination of light,” she states! Throughout the years, Ms. Lisevitz has had her art-works on display at many galleries and art shows, namely at the Seventh Annual Show at Ashawagh Hall, Exhibition at Guild Hall, The Clothes Line Exhibit and the Artists Members Exhibition, all held at the Saint John’s Episcopal Church Hall in Union City, and she tells us that the next showing to be called Celebrate ART-2008, is set for September!
Moreover, Lee has become a member of the Art Director’s Club of New York! Ms. Lisevitz also tells us that she has a daughter Elizabeth, who lives in San Diego and who works for Sea World and Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. Following in her mother’s footsteps, her daughter is also a professional artist and is also a California State Department of Education art teacher within the state school system!
As for coming events, Ms. Lisevitz also tells us that she is presently handling prospects for an exhibit, which are in the works, to be held in the Chelsea/Soho/Tribecca area of Manhattan in the foreseeable future, and she is excited about it! As for Union City, why did she choose the city as a domicile??? Well, Ms. Lisevitz tells us that she heard about the city’s charming history artistically speaking and that it was a municipality that welcomes artists! Lee feels that she has found a new home that suits her talents and plans to live in Union City indefinitely as she truly feels at home in the city! She now lives in the Troy Towers area, not far from Union City Deputy Mayor Nicholas Mastorelli and his lovely wife Janice!
As for her art, Ms. Lee Lisevitz tells us that her new art form represents her life being made stronger as she matures with her art; and like the caterpillar and the butterfly, “God is not finished with her yet!” No doubt about that “Lee,” and all the best!!!…
Readers, recently this columnist received a telephone call from Hudson County Surrogate-Judge Donald DeLeo who asked me about some historical information about an organization in Union City in order to help him with a surrogate court case he was working on, and of course, I obliged! However, it showed me that Judge DeLeo is truly a “true Public Servant,” who really cares about his work on behalf of the people he represents! Judge DeLeo of North Bergen never ceases to make me proud of him and his work ethic! Bravo Judge DeLeo!!!…
Elected Commissioner Alberto Rodriguez of West New York and his lovely wife Lissette of three years, are still celebrating the birth of their first child Maximo born over the Christmas holidays and are ever, ever, so proud to be parents! Presently, the Mayor’s Council is located now in Union City, and its executive director is former Guttenberg Mayor Dr. Nicholas Cicco, who still resides in Guttenberg and has a chiropractic practice, semi-retired, in the town. The Mayor’s Council was also located in Secaucus before moving its executive offices to Union City. So there you have it!…and so it goes…until next week…see you around town…”MATT”….
