Gala awards ceremony Closing night of the Hoboken International Film Festival

Last Thursday, at the beautiful Babbio Center at Stevens overlooking the Hudson, hundreds of hopeful filmmakers, actors, and fans gathered for the closing night festivities of the Hoboken International Film Festival.

There were smiles during the top-notch cocktail reception as fellow thespians and filmmakers toasted the competition. Later that evening, at the awards ceremony at DeBaun Auditorium, guests were entertained by the comedic stylings of funny man Rodney Laney, the MC for the occasion.

Chairman Ken Del Vecchio thanked all of the various sponsors, the city of Hoboken, and the filmmakers for their participation in the whirlwind of screenings and events. Del Vecchio hopes that next year’s festival will be an even bigger success.

And the “Hobie” goes to…

Perhaps the most moving portion of the awards ceremony was the segment honoring legendary actor Charles Durning. In a film montage about the celebrated actor, guests were treated to clips of some of his finest work. During his career, Durning received two Academy Awards, eight Golden Globes, and several Emmys.

He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hoboken International Film Festival.
