Dear Editor:
I am writing to ask Second Ward residents, particularly seniors, to vote for Beth Mason for City Council on May 8th.
My wife Janet and I have known Beth and her family for many years. There is one thing, above all that I want to say about them – they give back to this community without asking for a thing in return. Beth donates her time and money for all kinds of causes in Hoboken – the Fire Department Museum, the Jubilee Center, Liberty Humane Society, our schools and the Rotary, to name a few. I have seen Beth at almost every City Council meeting for the last four years. She pushes hard for an open and better government in Hoboken for everyone whether you were born and raised here, like me, or whether you just came here this year.
Beth has a special place in her heart for seniors. I know this because she comes to visit us often at Columbian Towers, the senior citizen residence downtown that Steve Cappiello and I built and run. When her 85-year-old father-in-law moved to Hoboken several years ago, Beth and I talked a lot about how hard it can be for seniors to function here, with no assisted living facilities and limited city services for seniors. As Second Ward councilperson, I know that Beth will do her best for seniors in the Ward and across the city.
Please vote for Beth on May 8th.
Yours truly,
Maurice “Mo” DeGennaro
