When you sit home this Thursday night channel surfing, around 9 o’clock, check out Spike TV. For the first time in over five years you will be able to find a wrestling show not produced by the WWE. TNA has finally arrived in primetime. The debut is this Thursday at 9 p.m. Impact will be two hours and will feature the debut of Kurt Angle.
Speaking on TNA, Chris Jericho has been in talks with TNA President Dixie Carter. They already worked a deal to incorporate Jericho’s music onto the last PPV, but TNA wants more. One source believes that Carter thinks Jericho will mean big ratings and that she will continue to pursue him until Jericho agrees to a deal.
On the WWE side of things, Kevin Federline has actually gone over well…backstage that is. Viewers, however, have had different opinions on whether they want to actually see him on WWE TV. In another case of “don’t get into wrestling,” a backstage source was supposedly informed by Federline that the breakup between himself and Britney Spears was actually caused by the WWE.
It seems when he showed Spears the tape of his Raw appearances, she laughed. And after she laughed, according to this source, Federline lost his cool and destroyed a room in their house prompting Spears to leave. K-Fed made out pretty sweet in the deal; he’s going to get a settlement from Spears and is headlining a WWE Monday Night Raw in January vs. John Cena.
Brooke Hogan’s debut album has defied critics and landed number 28 on the Billboard Charts in its first week. Hulk Hogan has supposedly put up three million of his own money to boost her career, seems to be a good investment for the Hulkster. As for a return to the ring, look for Hogan’s last career match to be at Wrestlemania. Yeah, this retirement will be for real.
Former ECW Diva Francine has retired from the world of wrestling. Francine had been with the ECW brand up until last month, when she was released out of her contract. As for another retired wrestler, Stone Cold Steve Austin; he was spotted at WWE headquarters this past week getting ready to promote his new movie.
“The Condemned,” will be released in early 2007 and pits Stone Cold against nine other convicts in a game of do-or-die. Think, “The Running Man.” Vinnie Jones (X-Men: The Last Stand, Euro-Trip, Snatch) is Austin’s counterpart in the movie. “The Marine” has made almost 20 million in theatres, making it a mild success for the newly developed WWE Films.
Scott Hall shall not be returning to wrestling after all. The Sixshooter saw some pictures of Hall the other day from a wrestling convention, and let me just say he is pushing upwards of 300 pounds. Word was that he had been training for a comeback, but obviously the reports were untrue.
Look for John Cena to lose some of his push now that his movie is out of the theatres. There was a reason the WWE was pushing him down the viewer’s throats. Just like how they are now doing that with Eric Bischoff. Bischoff’s new book was on the Time’s Best Seller list.
Ashley Massaro might be the next WWE Diva to pose for Playboy. She was supposedly offered a deal this past week to mull over. Do not be surprised to see good old, J. R. to take another leave of absence soon. The announcer has not agreed upon a new contract yet with the WWE.
TNA’s new strategy is to go after the WWE, hoping for reactions on television. Kip James and B.G. James, formerly the New Age Outlaws, will debut their new gimmick on Thursday’s prime-time show. Let’s just say their group is initialed V.K.M., sound familiar? Vincent Kennedy McMahon perhaps rings a bell?
Look for Rey Mysterio to be out for another four to six months after successful knee surgery this past week. This little man has had more surgeries then most retired football players. It might be time for Rey to walk away, while he can still walk.
That is it for this month Sixshooter-a-holics, make sure to check me out on the web daily over at http://mattygslife.blogspot.com. Until next month remember as Arn Anderson would say, “We’re not nice guys, we don’t wear white hats.”
