This contest has two categories: 18 and over, and under 18.
Participants can submit up to five pictures with captions in hard copy form only (no e-mail). We will need an electronic or scanable copy if your photo is a winner. Your printout can be in black & white or color.
The topic is “Life in Hudson County.”
Photo must have been taken between June 1, 2006 and July 31, 2006.
The pictures will not be returned to you, so please keep the originals.
Any photos of a few people (except large crowd scenes) should have the subject’s names and contact information, so we can make sure we have their permission.
The deadline is August 1 and winners will be announced in August. Photographs will be published in an August issue.
Employees of the Hudson Reporter newspapers are not eligible.
Professional photographers, meaning those who have earned more than $500 in any year for photography, are ineligible.
Entrants must be residents of Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, West New York, Union City, North Bergen, Guttenberg, Bayonne, or Secaucus, which are in the Reporter newspaper chain’s distribution area.
The top two winners in each category will receive gift certificates for local restaurants and businesses, and be published in the paper. There are first and second place prizes in each category.
The Current reserves the right to publish any photos received, and will reward honorable mention prizes to those published.
You must be willing to have your name used in articles about the contest if you are a winner.
Send your name, address, phone number, Social Security number, and photographs to: The Current, 1400 Washington St., Hoboken, NJ, 07030. Please put “photo contest” on the envelope.
