On the Streets Where We Live By Matthew Amato, Columnist “SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE!!!”

Francis “Frank” O’Keefe of Secaucus, who is entering his Senior Year at Montclair State University, is a young man who believes in the adage of “Service to the people!” O’Keefe is majoring in political science and education and will be achieving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in these academic areas. O’Keefe also will be setting his sights on State of New Jersey Teacher’s Certification in social studies. Presently, O’Keefe is also a Legislative Aide to State Assemblywoman Joan Quigley, who is also the chair of the State Assembly Democratic Majority Caucus, and represents the 32nd Assembly District, which covers Secaucus, North Bergen, Harrison, East Newark, Kearny, part of Jersey City, and Fairview in Bergen County. O’Keefe, who works out of the Jersey City Legislative Office, tells us that he loves working Constituent Services and meeting with the people. He also aids in drafting and researching law and legislation, and files bills with the clerk of the General Assembly in Trenton. Another area of interest is cultural food of various ethnic groups. O’Keefe likes to visit restaurants with various menus. His next restaurant visit will be Cajun and Creole, he tells us, and maybe some Eastern European restaurants in the future. O’Keefe also tells us that he is the nephew of Former Assemblyman Paul Cuprowski, who was also a former Jersey City councilman, who now also lives in Secaucus, and is presently recuperating from recent illness! After graduation, O’Keefe is contemplating teaching in a public school system. Beyond that, who knows what the future may hold!?!? With such an interest for people in society, let’s hope that “The sky’s the limit.” All the best!!!…

By now, everyone probably has heard that Guttenberg Mayor David Delle Donna defeated Weehawken dentist Joseph E. Mauriello of Global Dental Associates of Fort Lee in a dart throwing match, four out of six sets! This columnist asked Delle Donna fans David Hepperle and Nicholas Florio, members of the Guttenberg Board of Education and Planning Board, respectively, “if the Hudson FIX was in???” They both laughingly said in yesteryear terms that “Gimbles doesn’t tell Macy’s!!!” and away we go…

By the way, Sean Rian, owner of the Wild Rover Pub in Guttenberg, where the Dart Match Tournament took place, tells us that his establishment will be celebrating its 10th Year Anniversary this March. Irish Eyes are Smiling!!!

Bayonne Mayor and State Senator Joseph Doria tells us in answer to a question, that “yes” Union City Deputy Mayor Nicholas Mastorelli was a Founding Father of the Hudson County Community College Commission along with Doria, the “College Without Walls” which was the beginning of the present-day Hudson County Community College. Mastorelli at the time years ago was the executive director of the North Hudson Regional Council of mayors. By the way, this columnist was an adjunct professor at the college in the 1990s and taught Hudson County politics!
