Religions of the world

Dear Editor:

We often ask ourselves what is a religion? A religion is nothing but a belief in Supreme Being as the creator and controller of the universe. In other words, a religion is a relationship between human beings and the supernatural world.

The entire universe is created and controlled by one and only one, superpower, none but God. God is one but the people of the world know Him by different names like Christ, Alha, Rama, etc. People also worship their God in different ways. The holy places where the people go to worship and pray are known by different names like Church, Temple, Mosque, Gurudwara, etc. These all depend on the religious sect. So there are more than one religions. The main religions are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Bauddhism, Jainism, Shikhism and Zoroastrianism.

It is said that God sent his prophet to preach his message on the world. These all prophets are born as human beings on this world. They are the founder of their religions. The people belonging to their religions, worship the prophets as their God. Christ of Christianity, Mohammad of Islam, Ram of Hinduism, Gauttam of Bauddhism, Vardhman Mahavir of Jainism, Guru Nanak of Shikhism, Zoroster of Zoroastrianism are worshipped as God. Though they were born as human beings, they had unique power and virtues. They all were super human beings. They showed the people an honest approach to the truthful and fruitful life. Thus they became immortal.
