Dear Editor:
Carol Marsh may have lost the mayoral race but she hasn’t lost her integrity, humanity and decency. This is more than I can say for Frank Raia, Michael Russo, Jon Corzine and the other sellouts who helped purchase this election for Dave Roberts. As for Dave, he had no integrity to lose. If it looks sometimes like he’s doing a rather bizarre dance, it’s probably because so many puppeteers are pulling so many strings.
The Roberts team bought this election (or should I say their sugar daddies bought it for them?), but they have no mandate. Even so, they will act as if they do. I hope to not see more high-rises of the squat dark cube style of architecture, more traffic, a continuing sellout of city property and an ever-expanding payroll; maybe in three and a half years, there will be a poorly constructed swimming pool or some other such crumb for the masses.
Carol, you fought the best possible fight you could have against an entrenched political machine with extremely deep pockets. The decks were totally stacked against you. There is a balance between your team and the people who supported you.
