Dear Editor:
I would like to thank Commander Tom Kennedy and the members of the Hoboken American Legion 107 for performing a military ceremony at our father’s funeral. Our father, Donald Schuman, was proud to be an American Legion member. The ceremony was a very heartwarming and a memorable experience for our family.
The American Legion provides a vital function in our community in promoting patriotism in respect for those that served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces. A testimony to true patriotism by City Clerk James Farina allowed our father and the Veterans from WWII to never be forgotten. He took personal interest in Dad to inform the community of his military service.
I would also like to thank Mayor David Roberts, Senator Bernard Kenny, Jr. and the Hoboken community for their support. We are grateful to observe that “Patriotism is alive and well in Hoboken.”
