Prescription Savings Plan comes to Hudson County

Dear Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my fellow Freeholders on the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, who along with County Executive Thomas A. DeGise and I, recently implemented the Hudson County Prescription Savings Plan.

The plan will save eligible residents between 10 and 50 percent of prescription medicine costs and is targeted to help those not covered by an employer or retirement prescription program or New Jersey’s PAAD program, which protects seniors whose incomes fall below state income limits.

My special thanks to the members of the Freeholder Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs Committee of Chairman Barry Dugan of Bayonne, and members Al Cifelli of West Hudson and Tilo Rivas of Union City who jointly worked hard and long researching the plan and fine tuning the final product.

It is gratifying when government can positively respond to meeting its citizens’ needs, and reducing the cost of prescriptions should always remain one of our priorities. Those seeking to join the plan or needing additional information should call 1-800-633-0037, a toll-free number.

Silverio A. Vega
Chairman, Board of Freeholders
