Too many vans

Dear Editor:

The reason I am writing is I have two concerns regarding Bergenline Avenue in West New York. First, there are old traffic lights on Bergenline Avenue. The cars just don’t listen to the red lights and they go through the red light especially on 62nd Street. The township has installed new traffic lights. When will they be in operation and not cause so many accidents on the Avenue especially on the 62nd Street intersection.

Now the other item of business is my concern that there are not enough NJ Transit buses. Today I was on 62nd Street and the Avenue waiting for a bus to come to bring me to Hoboken and do you know how many of those vans passed in a minute? About 10 to 15 vans went by and the town should put their foot down and ban them from picking up passengers from the New Jersey Transit customers. A lot of these vans are dirty inside and they drive very bad. I can’t understand why the township of each town don’t ban them from entering their towns.

There are two towns in Hudson County that don’t have those vans, Hoboken and Secaucus. How come we have to be stuck with them? Why is West New York, Union City, North Bergen, Weehawken and Jersey City not saying, no more vans, you can’t do business in our towns no more. I bet there are a lot of your readers that feel the same as me that when you are waiting for a bus to either New York City or Hoboken or Jersey City, and one of those vans cut off the New Jersey Transit buses and takes the transit business away from the bus because one of those vans cut off a bus. The time is now to say enough, no more vans should be allowed in our towns.
