Dear Editor:
This Tuesday we will decide who is to represent the 33rd District in Trenton. We have all witnessed the disaster brought upon us by Republican control. From Washington DC on down surpluses have become deficits, and prosperity has been replaced by unemployment.
I can’t stress enough the importance of avoiding the return of this fate in New Jersey. We have been fortunate in the past that throughout the Republican majority in Trenton we were always able to depend on such incumbents as Senator Bernard Kenny, and Speaker of the Assembly Albio Sires.
Senator Kenny and Speaker Sires are both up for re-election. Their records speak for themselves. They have served us well and have earned and deserve our votes.
I would like to take a moment to mention a few things about Union City Mayor Brian Stack a candidate for the General Assembly in our district. I feel that Mayor Stack will be a welcomed addition to the Hudson County democratic team in Trenton. I’ve been involved in politics for most of my adult life, and at age 52 I’ve met many a politician. Let’s say they’ve all been unique in their own way.
However, I’ve rarely had the opportunity to meet someone with the passion and determination to help the people of his constituency as does Brian Stack. Above all his commitment to the children of Union City shows that he is not your run of the mill politician but a person who cares about his people.
I’ve witnessed first hand his fervor for getting things done. From making kids’ dreams come true at Christmas time to watching the extent to which he’ll push the summer programs to insure that as many children as possible are employed while being fed and educated.
There are more examples of which I’ve heard people talk about. From replacing a broken refrigerator to replacing people’s furniture after a tragic fire, it seems he’s always there.
I’m certain Brian Stack will work as hard for all of us. If he only accomplishes one quarter of what he’s done for Union City for us, then we have in fact selected a winner.
I urge all of my family and friends of the 4thWard and the 33rd Legislative district to vote Democratic on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Vote Column A to select Senator Bernard Kenny 1A; Assemblyman Albio Sires 2A; Assemblyman Brian P. Stack 3A; County Executive Thomas DeGise 4A and County Clerk Javier Inclan.
