Stand up, baby, stand up Top comics keep Hoboken laughing

The Shannon Lounge on First Street in Hoboken has become the hottest spot for original standup comedy in the area. The next show will be held Oct. 31 (Halloween) at 8:30 p.m. Come dressed up and enjoy the comedy of the very talented Dov Davidoff, as well as Hobokenites Eileen Budd and Pat Lamb. Tickets are $7 at the door.

"Quite simply, this is the Manhattan quality standup experience for half the price," said the show’s producer, Andrew Richter (no relation to the former Conan O’Brien sidekick). "The talent is hilarious, from diverse portions of the comedic spectrum."

Coined the Hoboken All Star Comedy show, it will feature quality up-and-comers as well as established headliners.

Some venues have tried to put comedy on the map in Hoboken, and the Shannon Bar looks like it will create a tradition in stand up.

"Hoboken is the quintessential environment for what I’m trying to accomplish," Richter said. "It is a place with a thriving nightlife and bar scene. The buzz is starting to build. The one thing Hobokenites seem to appreciate is something homegrown for them."
