Third Ward community meeting a success!

Dear Editor:

On September 30th I held my first “Community Meeting” for the residents of the Third Ward. The residents who attended provided me with important ideas and information as to what I need to do to help improve the quality of life in the Third Ward and perhaps the entire City in general. As a result of the concerns expressed by attendees at this meeting, I am pleased to report the following:

I had a speed bump installed on the corner of Sixth and Madison Sts. for the benefit of the senior citizens residing at 514 Madison Street, (Columbian Arms).

I have been in contact with the Hoboken Housing Authority regarding the security and operation of the main entrance doors and intercom systems at 455 Ninth St. and 460 Eighth St. (Columbus Gardens) and have been told that is will be repaired by next week.

I am directly involved in the rehabilitation project for the park located at Third and Madison Sts. with the grant money received from the State of NJ.

These are just a few of the issues that were raised during just one meeting, and if elected, I will continue to hold these open forums. I am committed to this type of open government and believe that it is essential to truly represent the people’s interests on a personal level.

I have tentatively scheduled our next Community Meeting to be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 7 pm at 720 Monroe St. (second floor). I urge more people to attend and participate. I am prepared to listen, to be held accountable as your representative and to keep you informed. Vincent Addeo
Third Ward Councilman
