Open letter to the Mayor…

Dear Mayor Roberts:

For three weeks now a few of us residents in the vicinity of Jefferson, 8th and 9th Streets have called the parking utility to report a gray Tacoma parked (plate number was provided) in the same spot. Not only does he park in the same spot, on Friday evenings he pulls up in a Bar & Grill shuttle van, pulls the Tacoma out and parks the van in this spot all weekend. When Monday morning comes around, he’s back with the Tacoma and the cycle commences again.

Let me point out the vehicle does not have a residential sticker, temporary pass, visitor’s pass nor business permit. However, with each call we’re told someone will check it out. On my last call on October 15, 2003, I was told by the woman, sorry I didn’t get her name nor did she volunteer her name, “I will send an officer there now.” Upon my return that evening, there stood the Tacoma without even a warning notice.

Is there a special arrangement where one can rent a space on the street that we’re not aware of? It’s very upsetting when you’re riding around looking for parking in this area and see non-residents and even commercial vehicles in a spot that you know you can be occupying.

Tired of Looking for Parking
