Against ‘Quality’ Home Care Act

Dear Editor:

The legislation A-3778/S-2662 is called the Quality Home Care Act, but don’t let the name fool you. This bill is not for “quality”. This bill was created to put my employer, Interim Healthcare, out of business — not just Interim but also all 300 of the home care agencies in the state.

I will no longer have anyone to call to discuss my problems and my patients’ problems. I will no longer have a weekly paycheck and benefits. I will be on a list of aides, waiting to be called by someone who needs help. I will be paid by the State but will not be eligible for State benefits. I need security. This bill will not help my patients or me.

Thank you,
Esperanza C. Ramos
