Thank you Mayor Turner for helping me

Dear Editor:

The following letter was written to Mayor Turner:

I’m writing to thank you for your help on Thursday, August 14, the night of the blackout. After having waited four long hours at Chelsea Piers to ferry my way off Manhattan on the Spirit of New York, I found myself at Port Imperial. My husband massaged me earlier that he was on his way to Weehawken to bring me home. (Other than checking voicemail, my cell phone was useless.) For hours I waited and searched for my husband, totally confused as to his whereabouts and how I was going to find my way home without him, when you appeared on the scene and kindly offered help. Unfortunately, neither my husband nor I were aware of the fact that there is more than one ferry landing in Weehawken. All the time I was searching Port Imperial, my husband was searching for me at Arthur’s Landing. Your assistance put a happy ending to a very long ordeal.

The people of Weehawken are fortunate indeed to have a Mayor who in Rudolph Giuliani style, was out with the people and for the people in a time of need.

Thank you,
Sharon Keane
