An angel in disguise as a firefighter.

Dear Editor:

I returned from a vacation late Sunday night. The first thing I did was read the Weehawken Reporter to see what I missed during my week away. One could only imagine my astonishment when I read about the fire in the shades.

As remarkable as it was, it did not surprise me that Bobby Reed, a Captain in the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue department played a major role in this heroic act. I have had the pleasure of knowing Bobby for the better part of my life and I can honestly say that he would have attempted this rescue whether he was a fire fighter or not. That’s just the kind of man Bobby is. Being a descendant of the shades, I can tell you that it is like a community within itself. Everyone is family and we would do anything to protect our neighbors.

I have also had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Mack and her family for many years. I know that she has been in failing health for quite some time. What a wonderful lady she is and what a great loss it would have been if Bobby was not there when needed! He truly was an angel saving the life of another angel. For this I salute Bobby for a job well done and I wish Mrs. Mack a speedy recovery.
