Dear Editor:
Since many of you were unable to join us for our 5th Annual Walk-a-Thon, we thought we’d bring a piece of the day to you. It’s our way of letting you know how very important your donation is to us.
Believe it or not the rain did stop! The weather was beautiful. Our school was dressed in “Balloon Wear” compliments of Artiste Florist of North Bergen. Our students walked and chanted the names of our advertisers. Parents and friends cheered us on. The West New York Police Department escorted us on our laps.
For the fifth year in a row the UPS Foundation, through the kind endeavors of Patrick Durkin, Community Relations Supervisor, donated T-shirts to the entire faculty, staff and student body. Mr. Durkin also presented a very large check in the amount of $1500 to Ms. Herrera and Mr. Pitrelli.
The Panasonic Corporation contributed “neckwear” (key chains and pouches) to the student body as well. Thanks to the efforts of one of our parents, Colleen Mandate. The Home Depot was kind enough to give us bottles of water to help refresh our students. We had some mighty thirsty people at the end of the walk!
We are extremely grateful to all of these corporations for the kindness and consideration they have given to our students and faculty.
The money is still being counted. To date we have close to $14,000. As usual the proceeds from our Walk-a-Thon will be invested in our students’ future, the school library being one of our priorities.
No matter how small, every donation has helped to bring us to this pinnacle of success. It is amazing what can be accomplished when an entire community comes together!
Thank you once again.
Sincerely,
The Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students of Public School #3
