Dear Editor:
Our mayor indicates that he wants to be our voice in Trenton. Why didn’t the mayor endorse a candidate from his current administration to be the voice and carry his ideas to Trenton? Is it because he can’t trust the current cronies in his administration?
Jersey City cannot afford to have a part-time mayor especially when full-time problems confront our city. The mayor, who hasn’t even completed a term in office, wants to compare himself to other mayors who are currently serving as State Senators. Some of the mayors Mr. Cunningham mentions in his ad are part of a commission form of government, and while Mr. Cunningham is no Sharp James, by a large margin the mayor of Newark has delivered to all his constituents and has created throughout the years a solid administration prior to running for his current Senate seat. Our mayor has not delivered and continues to divide our city and now wants to divide the city of Bayonne and the rest of the county.
As a Latino I am appalled by his lack of response to our Latino community, and it is clearly demonstrated by the current slate he has selected to run for the June election.
The mayor and his supporters state in their political ads “What is it about the Star that makes machine bosses afraid?” Is it because our mayor hides behind the star in such a egotistical state, and I believe it is the citizens of our city who are really afraid. The mayor and the cronies that attempt to run our city, a mayor who constantly addresses and focuses on his own personal accomplishments never mentioning what he has done for our city throughout his years of public service.
Mr. Cunningham please attempt to complete your task of servicing Jersey City before you run off to Trenton and leave our city to the cronies that currently advise you.
Come this June this is why my family and friends are voting for a real government and experience…the entire Hudson County Democratic Team.
