Dear Editor:
There are a number of fine candidates for the First Ward Council position — they deserve your consideration, but one clearly deserves your vote.
Shelley Miller is a treasure. Yes, she’s smart, energetic and competent, but the others are too. What sets her apart is her genuine independence, proven by years of community activism.
She has no political or personal baggage that will compromise her judgment: no relatives in government, no conflicting employment, no personal or political agenda to advance and no motive either to rubber-stamp or, for that matter, to obstruct the administration.
Just think, the time may come when you need to express your views to the Council. Will they really listen to you and try to find an honest solution or will their personal or political allegiances predetermine their decisions?
I know Shelley Miller, and I know she’ll always have an open mind, an open heart and a fierce determination to always do the right thing.
