Polka talk
Hey! Saw the Current (It’s Polka Dot/March 27), and man! what a nice job…the cover is cool The story is great (and Kiss
and Cheap Trick references are always okay with me) and I’m already getting tons of e-mails. Thank you very much. – Ron Albanese, a.k.a. Polka Dot
Thanks. Keep us laughing!
Val in mind
I was so excited to see my friend Val in the last issue of the Current (New Kid on the Block/March 20). I went to Rutgers, and saw him play at places like the Court Tavern numerous times. I can honestly say I don’t remember his fan base being mostly young ladies obsessed with his good looks, but more people obsessed with the music. While he was recording Slow Down Kid, I had some conversations with Val about what the new album was going to be about. I was so happy for him when it was finished, and even better than I could have imagined. My favorite songs are "Shock," "Rat Race," and "Panic Attack." I think a lot of people can relate to the words in his songs and the experiences he talks about. Definitely check him out at Maxwell’s on April 5! – Christina Gagliardo

At Uncle Joe’s
I’m really glad you just came down, caught the vibe, and met some really cool people at Uncle Joe’s last week. We’re trying to attract the most dynamic, seriously happening folks who have chosen to come to downtown Jersey City. On the Uncle Joe’s agenda, we’re accomplishing our goals to a degree, but any help from the press will only make it better, and it is always nicer when we can call you friend. Thanks. – Joe Condiracci
Joe is a bartender at Uncle Joe’s and a singer/songwriter. He will perform at New York City’s Village Underground on April 8 at 8 p.m. For information email him at JCondo2@aol.com.

Overheard
In a Hoboken video store last week:
Boy 1: I want to get Flipper.
Boy 2 (to friend): He wants to get Flipper. We’re not getting Flipper.
Friend: What’s Flipper?
Boy 2: It’s that gay dolphin movie.
Good job!
