Dear Editor:
An open letter to Deborah, John and Jose:
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I endorse your candidacies for the Hoboken School Board election on April 15, 2003.
Your dedication to Hoboken, its public school system and the children we educate will well serve not only the students and parents, but also the taxpayers for our city. Your independent status as candidates free from political pressures that plague the other slates of candidates for School Board supported by the two competing factions fighting for control of the school system and city government gives me confidence you will truly represent the people of Hoboken. Our educational system must be free from political influence and infighting. Members of the Hoboken School Board must be free to support programs, school budgets, awarding of contracts and personnel matters with only the best interest of our children and taxpayers in mind. We must not be afraid future Board of Education members will be subjected to political pressures that are not in the best interest of Hoboken.
I am eager to tell my friends in Hoboken that I recommend they cast their votes for Jose Ponjoan, Deborah Fullam Alicea and John Madigan for School Board on April 15, 2003.
George Fonseca
