Snow removal in our city is to be commended and recognized

Dear Editor:

Special commendations and recognition must be given to our Jersey City Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham in regards to the recent removal and continuous removal of snow within the City of Jersey City. It is to be noted since December 2002 and up to the present blizzard of 2003, there have been a number of snowstorms that have affected our city. The mayor has served as the quarterback in regards to the quality of life and snow removal, and it was certainly witnessed in recent activities.

Special praise must be given to Deputy Mayor Eugene Drayton who serves as the coordinator of emergency services; Oren Dabney, director of the Jersey City Incinerator Authority; Betty Outlaw, director of Public Works; James King, director of the Jersey City Parking Authority; Thomas Kane, director of the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority and the Jersey City Police, Fire and EMS services.

All of the efforts of the staff of these departments have contributed to the safety and general welfare of our city, and we must recognize the effort of all of the employees of these agencies for their untiring efforts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week in this recent snowstorm and throughout the year.
