On Sunday, February 23, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc., opened a Food Basics store at 1425 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen. The 40,000 square foot store is the largest and most expansive to date.
In addition to offering everyday low prices on a wide selection of fresh produce, meats, poultry, seafood, deli, bakery goods and national brand groceries, the North Bergen Food Basics offers a number of convenient amenities – a pharmacy, large health and beauty aid department, a liquor store offering beer, wine, and spirits, lottery tickets, and Western Union services and a dollar store with a unique mix of household goods, party items, gift wrap and novelty toys.
Signs in the store are in English and Spanish and shoppers will find an abundant selection of popular Hispanic speciality items in the fresh foods and grocery sections.
“We are excited to bring Food Basics to the community,” said Dan Mazzara, Vice President, Food Basics U.S.A. “W feel this store offers products and services to fulfill the weekly shopping, banking and pharmaceutical needs of area consumers — all at everyday low prices.”
Food Basics keeps its simple, and that adds up to savings for customers. Customers bring their own bags, purchase bags at the checkout or use cardboard boxes available in the front of the store to cart home their groceries.
Food Basics is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and accepts cash, all major credit cards, debit cards and other electronic fund transfer cards. The store will also honor manufacturers’ coupons and participates in the WIC program.
