The ultimate excuse to party is here. Oddfellows’ locations in Hoboken and Jersey City will present their rendition next week of the New Orleans classic – Mardi Gras. For a decade, the downtown Hoboken location has been living it up on Fat Tuesdays. The downtown Jersey City spot, opened more than three years ago and is offering an equally exciting party. There will be traditional Louisiana cuisine, a float, tons of beads, masks, promotions, free limo shuttle between Hoboken and Jersey City, a king and queen selection, and live Zydeco music.
"If you can’t be in New Orleans, be at Oddfellows Rest," said Oddfellows co-owner Liz Stirling. "We guarantee you the best northeast carnival experience."
The party is not limited to March 4. On Feb. 27, there will be live funk and groove music from the band Brown. The following day, The Blue People will play live funky beats, and there’ll also be reggae from members of the Toots and the Maytals. On March 1, live soul ’70s funk group Soul Finger will perform and a New Orleans-themed open mic will be held on March 2.
To keep the hungry folks appeased, Oddfellows offers authentic award-winning Cajun that is moderately priced. The signature dishes are crawfish etouffee, Bar-B-Que shrimp, jambalaya, catfish and po’ boys and gumbo.
Both venues offer a voodoo bar and lounge area, pool tables and dart boards, a café area, and the best selections of New Orleans Hurricanes drinks.
"Come early every night so you can enjoy the fun," Stirling said.
