There will always be a smile in my heart for Hoboken firefighters

Dear Editor:

This letter is to commend Fire Chief O’Brien and the firefighters from the 2nd and Jefferson Streets Firehouse. Yesterday, after my computer flickered and I subsequently smelled smoke, I called 911 and was put right through to the Hoboken Fire Department dispatch office. The response was immediate, and the Chief and a number of the trucks were here within a very few minutes.

Fortunately, the smoke was found to be coming from a neighbor’s wood-burning stove, and my distress proved groundless. The entire Hoboken Fire Department should be recognized for their daily vigilance and professionalism. These fire safety professionals are the very core of our civic pride and sense protection.

My New Year’s resolution is to offer a smile and a greeting whenever I walk past a firehouse. Joan Abel
