Last minute shopping Uptown Hoboken offers perfect gift ideas for holidays

Hoboken’s uptown shopping area provides a variety of popular restaurants, bars, spas, hair salons and shops.

At HomeSlice, located on the corner of 10th and Bloomfield streets, a block off Washington Street, owners Michaela Dalton and Marc White offer patrons a selection of jewelry, home accessories and handbags. The majority of their items are handmade and multicultural. Opened for almost two years, HomeSlice has been providing Hobokenites with excellent gift ideas during the holidays.

"You don’t have to go to SoHo to find things for your home," said White. "Stay local. We have what you are looking for."

They also offer beautiful gift wrapping and friendly customer service.

Up the block from HomeSlice, The Mad Potter at 938 Washington St. is an ideal place to bring children and paint vases or to go on a date. At the shop, art director Laura Bowers and owner Susie De Rafelo provide a variety of ceramic pieces and pottery that people can decorate any way they choose.

"This is cheap therapy," Bowers said. "Guys come here all the time." In the neighborhood for five years, De Rafelo recently took over the establishment. During the evening, people can bring a bottle of wine and enjoy themselves while decorating anything from ceramic plates to cups.

At Anastasia’s Accessories, they provide clothing apparel for men and women, as well as a variety of handbags, jewelry, scarves, perfume, hair wear, wallets, ties, belts, sunglasses and bracelets. Located at 1006 Washington St., it is open seven days a week.

Near Anastasia’s, Galatea Lingerie and Linens at 1224 Washington St. has been offering lingerie for more than a decade at their location. They also carry L’Occitane toiletries and a big selection of silk, cotton and velvet linens.

If you have been meaning to frame your favorite picture, the folks at FastFrame can provide frames for any occasion. Owner Daniel Levin and his professional staff have been helping local residents find the perfect frame for their pictures since the summertime.

"Our products are guaranteed for life," said Levin. "We have a desire to be part of the Hoboken community."

And nearby FastFrame, Flash Tech at 920 Washington St. carries a large variety of computers, tech gifts and cellular wireless technology.

It’s not too late to shop this holiday season, but don’t wait to the last minute. Enjoy what the stores in Hoboken have to offer. q
