Holiday greetings
On behalf of the Guttenberg Council and all the municipal workers, I would like to extend holiday greetings and best wishes for a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous new year to all our residents and the rest of Hudson County.
New parking lot
Just a reminder that our new parking lot, located at 308-10 68th St., will be opening on or about Jan. 1. There will be 22 parking spaces for residents’ cars and the monthly rental will be $75. Applications are available now at the Office of the Town Clerk in Guttenberg Town Hall at 6808 Park Ave.
Safe Kids Day
Our annual Safe Kids Day this year was a smashing success thanks to a lot of vendors who made contributions. They include Antonio’s Pizza, Benny’s Liquors, John’s Chicken, Home Depot, Gateway Condo Association, Guttenberg Savings and Loan, Oneida’s Dance Studio, Sign Graphics, Party Store, Mayor David Delle Donna Civic Association, Teddy Bear Day Care, Happy Camp Day Care, Commonwealth Mortgage, Calabrese Realty, Cures for Women, K&C Carpet, Montessori School PTA, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department, American Fire Safety, J.C. Medical Center, North Hudson Fire and Rescue Department, Guttenberg Dept. of Public Works, Guttenberg Police Dept., North Hudson Community Action Corporation, Hudson County Division of Parks and Recreation, and the Pinacle Supermarket. A special thanks goes to our Fire Inspector, Anthony Casper, who coordinated the entire event.
Thanks for voting
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to vote and work at the polls in the last election. Council candidates Jennifer Credidio and Councilman Thomas Barnes were elected and we welcome them to the Town Council. Both Jennifer and Tom bring much talent and a dedication to public service that will serve the residents of Guttenberg well. They will be officially sworn in at 1 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2003 at Town Hall, but we will be holding an inaugural ceremony at our first council meeting of the year on Thursday, Jan. 2 at the Community Center, 121 71st St. at 8 p.m. to which all are invited.
Good luck, county executive & freeholders
As we enter 2002, our county freeholders will be sworn in and a new county executive, Thomas DeGise, will lead us in the New Year. We wish all of them well and pledge our support to help make government work for everyone. After all, that’s what we’re elected to do.
