Dear Editor:
The Jerry Fallwells, the Charlton Hestons, the N.R.A. and the far right generally are invested to the hilt in all resources that would greatly thrive in a war situation. They possess no conscience much less ethics and therefore the general public must be ever on the alert that any attempt to peacefully solve the Iraqi problem will drive them close to bankruptcy. They have no scruples. The reaction to Wall Street was proof enough. When the news that the UN resolution to let the inspectors in, rather than to let the Republican top leaders send the troops in without sanction to defense stocks showed the rats leaving a sinking ship. “Brain dead, awaken!”
History is proof that diversionary actions to trigger conflicts and world wars have occurred many times. I would not be greatly surprised if a contrived sabotage by the sources described above to discredit the inspectors or Saddam might occur. They need a war so badly because the economy is going down the drain and 2004 is not that distant and their wallets are in jeopardy.
