Violence aided us in war

Dear Editor:

I read a letter in your October 5th edition. It was from a person who thinks that violence should be avoided at all costs. Violence, meaning a war. I would like to ask a question, “why hasn’t this country been attacked again since September 11th?”

One reason – we used violence against the terrorists – that’s why – violence meaning a war. They didn’t stop because you and your kind light candles. Is there violence with justification – in self defense – yes.

I once saw an editorial picture in a magazine and it depicts to a “T” an anti-violent, anti-war person in this day and age. It shows a man standing at a bus stop, not ten feet away is his wife being attacked by a crazy man. The husband is saying to the people around him, ” I would like to help my wife but it would only cause more violence.” So he did nothing.
