Hoboken Charter School students display their talents at City Hall

Dear Editor:

We have received many enthusiastic comments from people who saw our students’ Hudson River models at City Hall this summer. The second and third graders who worked all of last year on this project feel rewarded and encouraged by the wonderful community response.

The students wanted all of Hoboken to know how important it is to keep the Hudson River clean and free of pollution in order to preserve it for future generations. The display in City Hall helped to get that message across.

The children especially benefitted from meeting Mayor Roberts and having the opportunity to explain their work. His genuine interest and enthusiasm for their learning process was evident and refreshing. I feel fortunate to be an educator in a town where the leadership is accessible to its youngest members.

Anyone who hasn’t yet had an opportunity to view the models, please stop for a moment and feast your eyes on the work of little hands with an expansive vision for the river that has defined this community since its earliest beginnings.

Thanks again to Mayor David Roberts and his staff for making himself available to the students of Hoboken on this and so many other occasions.
