Dear Editor:
I would like to take a moment out to thank Mayor Richard Turner and the Weehawken Town Council for granting me the honor and privilege to serve as Weehawken’s Human Services Director for the past year. The decision to leave Weehawken and return to a post in Hoboken was a difficult one. Throughout the past year I have come to respect and admire the professionalism of Mayor Turner. I sincerely believe that he is the foremost advocate the people of Weehawken have in continuing honest and efficient government in town while maintaining the beauty, stability and character of all of Weehawken’s neighborhoods. His plans for Weehawken’s waterfront are reasonable and well thought out and provide the most open space per project of any town in Hudson County with at least 11 acres or more for public open space, ball fields and parkland. His work to brighten up Park Avenue is now underway with the new garden park and walkway at 3800 Park Avenue and extending up to the PathMark site about to begin construction. He cares for every neighborhood and every person in Weehawken.
Working also with his Town Administrator James Marchetti, I learned how dedicated the town and its workers are in preserving Weehawken’s neighborhoods and wonderful quality of life. Mr. Marchetti is a very quiet and modest gentleman but one of the most able town administrators I have met in my nearly 25 years of public service in New Jersey. Along with Public Safety Director Jeff Welz, Finance Director Richard Barsa, Public Works Director Vincent Giusto and Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Barone, the people of Weehawken have a great team of public servants leading the town forward under Mayor Turner and the Town Council.
Again, I would like to thank the Mayor and the Council for their support and confidence in me and for the pleasure of having worked with such a great team for this past year.
