Don’t take your eyes off your belongings if they’re on the streets of Hoboken!

Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter to warn people who are moving into or out of Hoboken about the unscrupulous people who recently walked off with personal property which was on the sidewalk waiting to be put in a moving van. I thought it was quite obvious that I was moving as the van was right in front of my condo, and there were boxes, furniture and other items on the sidewalk and yet at least three people walked by and asked if we were getting rid of the “stuff” on the sidewalk. The items taken were an antique Bible stand and two framed artwork that my brother who died seven years ago gave me.

Needless to say, I’m very upset but believe that “what comes around goes around,” and the thieves will get theirs eventually.

So be careful and don’t leave personal property unattended on the sidewalk as there’s a good chance it won’t be there when you return.
