Fresh seafood everyday Hoboken’s Thai Restaurant offers extensive menu

A quiet spot across the street from the movie theaters on Hudson Street in the downtown waterfront area of Hoboken, Thai Restaurant Grill and Seafood is a terrific place for fresh seafood and traditional cuisine.

The restaurant is located on a convenient spot on the ground floor of a two-story house next to the city’s police station. The dining room seats more than 40 people and the staff is very attentive. Executive chef Teerayuth Viekkulvrapan operates a masterful kitchen. With poise and professionalism, he prepares a variety of exquisite seafood platters and delicious authentic Thai food.

"We always try to please our customers. Our fish is fresh everyday. The food here is wonderful," Viekkulvrapan said during an interview at his establishment last week.

His top entrees include chicken with basil sauce sautéed with onions, scallion, bell peppers and chili ($5.95); chicken with sautéed broccoli in oyster sauce ($5.95); red curry beef with bamboo shoot, bell pepper and fresh basil in coconut milk ($6.95); a whole strip bass ($13.95); flounder filet ($10.95); spicy fried rice with seafood ($6.50); and a tuna filet ($11.95).

The seafood is delivered fresh everyday from fish markets in New York City and they offer lunch specials and free delivery in a casual dining setting.

My meal

I began my meal with a tall chilled glass of Thai iced tea ($1.50) and a large plate of green papaya salad ($2.50). The papaya was a little bit spicy and it came with crushed peanuts. I then tried Pad Thai ($6.95), recommended by the chef. It was prepared with chicken, stir-fried rice noodle with egg, bean curd, bean sprout, scallion, peanuts, and Thai spices. There was a good mix of basil and garlic, and the presentation was terrific. I truly enjoyed the dish and recommend it to those who have yet to be introduced to good Thai cuisine. For the main course I enjoyed a tasty salmon filet ($10.95). The large and juicy fish was grilled and it came with your choice of rice and a side of salad. I had the avocado salad, which came with red onions, cherry tomatoes, and scallion with chili vinaigrette. Overall the entrees were cooked to perfection and the food was delivered promptly for those under a strict lunch hour. I recommend the place for a nice early dinner with friends or a quick business lunch.
