Dear Editor:
On April 16, Hoboken residents went to the polls to raise the standards with which we engage our public schools. As a member of the Hoboken United team, a product of our city’s public schools and father of two children in the system, I am truly grateful that educational reform and excellence remains at the forefront of public concern.
Throughout the campaign, I challenged voters to raise the bar and select candidates who believe we can do more to improve the quality of education, while maintaining cost efficiencies for taxpayers, either property owners or tenants who support the economic burden through their rents. I, along with my running mates, thank you and pledge to live up to your trust.
As a product of our schools, and as a parent who chose to send my children to our public schools, I will strive to serve as a watchdog to protect the interests of the next generation of leaders. As a trustee, I will work to ensure that our children are able to read at grade level, that we continue to develop career-based curriculum that is in line with today’s job market, and that teachers and administrators are accountable for maintaining and enhancing the quality of education for all.
I would like to thank all who have supported me over the years and especially during this most recent campaign. I world like to ask those who have differed with me for the opportunity to work together to foster a working relationship for the betterment of all our children. I thank you for your trust and please do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas at 201-376-8012, or email me at cggarcia@optonline.net

I would like to commend Coaches Michele, Roe, David, Michelle, Theresa, Janine, Jessica and Annette for their diligence to teaching our kids to be the best.
I would also like to congratulate the girls 14 and under basketball traveling team who for the first time entered the Hudson-Bergen County Girl’s basketball league only to decisively bring home the second place trophy. a great tribute to Coaches Vinnie, Dawn, Madeline and all the parents who dedicate their time to our programs. Thanks a million.
