Dear Editor:
My name is Tony John Martin and I am 18 years old. I am writing this letter because I am concerned about my town. I believe North Bergen needs to be cleaned up. In my opinion North Bergen is a 1950’s town that is simply run down. We are at the 21st century and, yet, North Bergen remains filthy. First of all, I believe the park needs a major change, especially the lake. The lake is littered with tires and soda bottles. Frankly, I am afraid that if I fell in I would come out glowing. Our mayor has not done enough to clean up the park. He must think he is superman. He is after all the state senator, the mayor and the assistant superintendent of schools. My fellow citizens, Jersey City is going through a revolution, why do we not join them? As a teenager, I know the youth of North Bergen have no place to go. When does the town plan on building a youth center? When I went to Camden, NJ tow years ago, I saw poverty first hand, and I am hoping North Bergen does not end up like Camden. Let us make North Bergen a good community to live. Let us not regress back to the 1950’s, but let us progress to the new century.
Tony John Martin
