A few days ago, I was contacted by Captain J. Tuminaro of the Hoboken Police Department.
Captain Tuminaro’s concerns were related to an increase of auto incidents at the the 2nd and Washington St. intersection. Captain Tuminaro’s investigation also stemmed from complaints logged by residents and business owners in the area.
The recommendation was to erect “No Turn on Red” signs, one on either side of the intersection.
I contacted Tom Vecchione of the Signal and Traffic Division and within one half-hour, both signs were in place.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents and business owners for voicing their concerns.
Captain Tuminaro, Tom Vecchione and the men in Sign and Traffic for recognizing a public safety issue and addressing the problem immediately.
