Dear Editor:
On New Year’s Eve, at about 2 p.m., a cruel woman who runs a bar in Hoboken would not allow me to use her rest room, even though I was about to have what is politely referred to as an “accident.”
“I don’t care, it’s not my problem. Go do it in your pants, I don’t care if you have kidney problems, you’re not using my bathroom,” were some of her pointlessly mean spirited remarks.
I should point out that though it was New Year’s Eve, it was 2 p.m., and I’m a middle aged man who never drinks, so it’s not as though I was one of Hoboken’s unruly, drunken party boys who stagger up and down streets each weekend.
This woman was being mean just for the pleasure of being mean. The bar next door, which allowed me to use their rest room, laughed when I told them the story, saying, “Yep, that’s her!!”
Your paper, on a number of occasions, has tried to convince your readership that this bar is a local institution with a long history that needs and deserves community support. Sorry, but there’s no excuse for mean spirited arrogance.
I don’t care how long it’s been there. No “institution” that treats people like that is worthy of support.
