PSE&G plays supportive role in drug education

Dear Editor:

PSE&G supports the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-Hudson (NCADD-Hudson) to provide drug and alcohol education in the schools and communities we serve; and congratulations to the West New York Municipal Alliance for receiving the NCADD’s Annual Education Award.

More corporate support and public involvement are needed to increase drug education and market reduction strategies. Municipal budgets are stressed to the limits. The purity of drugs is getting higher, the price lower, the battle tougher, and so must our resolve to make a difference in the lives of young people.

We need to create good decision-makers. This work starts in the schools. The NCADD-Hudson is helping to nurture a generation of new leadership that is drug free. The NCADD helps community leaders to keep up with new problems, educates parents to keep up with new problems, educate parents so they can effectively communicate deterrence, exposes young people to consistent messages, and integrates resources to get messages into students’ hands and heads.

All parts of the community must reinforce and supplement the work of each other because stand-along programs do not work for long.

For more information on these issues, or if you would like to support the NCADD-Hudson, call (201) 653-6776.
