Runner’s high
After reading JoAnne Steglitz’ "Runner’s High" last week, I’m dying to know … how did she do in the marathon? Did she finish? – Caroline, Hoboken
Yes, she did finish! According to the official New York Road Runners Club clock, her time was 4:17:02. (According to her own personal Pro Sport Water Resistant Time Stop watch, her time was 4:14:16. But, who’s counting?) She came in 10,211th place out of more than 30,000. Not bad!
To run or not to run?
After reading last week’s Current about the marathon, I was thinking that maybe I should try to run it next year. Is it worth it? The months of training, the "burning blisters," the overall "ennui" of it all? – Jonathon, Jersey City
JoAnne Steglitz said it was the best day of her life, and, despite the fact that she can’t really make it up or down the stairs, she says she wants to do it again next year.
Hoboken Harrier wannabe
I want to become a Hoboken Harrier! How do I go about doing that? – Heather, Hoboken

Yeah, well…
All that preparation for the reward of running 26 miles in four hours? It seems almost unhealthy. – Blue, J.C.
You’re right. We’ll go back to smoking.
What was that again?
What was the address for that proposed screenwriters’ group again? And how much of a time commitment is involved?
It’ll be a low-key, informal thing. One address you can use to express your interest is Screenwriter72@aol.com.
Help, part III
I work in a bakery. Eight hours of flour and dough all around me are driving me crazy. I just want to go home and listen to U2. – Pete
Sounds like you’re stuck in a donut and you can’t get out of it.
