Strange News Dept. of over-extended families

The following was sent to us by G. Roland Mills, the publicity chairman of a group called "David Ackerman Descendants – 1662."

Ackerman cousins from near and far will travel to the Pompton Reformed Church, 59 Hamburg Turnpike, Pompton Lakes, N.J., on Saturday, Oct. 20 to celebrate their 40th annual reunion as David Ackerman Descendants – 1662.

David, a Dutch schoolmaster, and his wife Lysbeth, settled in New Amsterdam 339 years ago. Today their lineal descendants live in all parts of the United States and Canada.

If you have an Ackerman in your family tree, perhaps you can claim David and Lysbeth as your ancestors. We always have the welcome mat out for new members.

Following our usual morning coffee hour and short business session, our genealogists, Marion Snedecor and Diane Ward Sives, will lead us in an instructional seminar on the new advances offered by the Internet to genealogical researchers.

After the usual deli lunch, further plans will be discussed for the group’s planned visit to Holland in April.

If you desire to meet with our active family group, please contact Margaret Palella, Membership Chairwoman, 23 Akers Ave., Montvale, New Jersey 07645, phone 391-6755.

Strange News comes to us from the odd press materials that tumble past our desks. If you have comments, write us at current@hudsonreporter.com. Please include your great-great-grandmother’s maiden name.
