A Diamond In A Seashell

Dear Editor:

One spring morning, as I walked along the beach,

I found a seashell lying in the sand.

As I picked it up, a diamond fell from it,

And into my hand

I wondered! However did a diamond get into a seashell,

And not float away.

It was bright and shining in the sunlight of the day.

Now, the seashell had not been as enduring

As the diamond you see,

For it was battered by time, wind and the sea.

As the seashell was beginning to wither away,

I thought how much our bodies are like that seashell,

For in time they too will decay.

But the diamond that remains forever hard and bright

Is like our souls that will forever live in His light.
