Global warming signs already in evidence

Dear Editor:

As a seventh grade student in Weehawken High School, I happen to be very concerned with the issue of global warming. I think that if we don’t take care of the problem now, it will definitely become worse in the future. Personally, I think that President Bush should pay more attention to the protection and conservation of our planet.

Just the fact that the President cut $2.3 billion from global warming research goes to show that he doesn’t really have interest in the fact that global warming puts us and our planet in danger. From what I see, it looks like President Bush doesn’t care as much as he should about global warming. He doesn’t realize that our country is the world’s biggest polluter. The U.S. contributes 25% of the world’s pollution (in terms of global warming) even though it only makes up 4% of the world’s population.

Sure, the President spends more time giving money to other “important” things, (in some cases, the companies and industries that emit CO-2 instead of realizing what the real problem is. Our country has survived collapses in the economy, but can we really survive through the destruction that global warming is and will continue doing to our atmosphere? I think not. If we don’t take care of our planet now, who knows if we’ll have a planet in the future?
