Memorial Day is here once more
as we honor our veterans
who died in each war
Vietnam, Korea, World Wars 1 and 2
Just think of the horrors
that they went through
For those who were blinded
and those who were maimed
Their lives would never be the same
To each of you who did come home
feeling abandoned and so alone
Hold your heads high and accept this tribute
as you brave men and women we proudly salute
Still, on this day there are some we can’t reach
who rush to go shopping or head for the beach
Just pause for a moment to show us you care
As you bow your heads in silent prayer
